What is Specialty Spotlight? 

We all know that getting into specialty training has become increasingly competitive and can be hard to navigate. Specialty spotlight is a MedEd x Surgsoc event to answer all your questions. We have invited multiple registrars who have undergone various training pathway applications such as Internal Medical Training, Core Surgical Training, cardiothoracic surgery, ophthalmology and many more to teach you how to build your portfolio. 

What to expect on the day? 

You will have 30-45min talks from registrars who have just gotten into specialty training. They will explain how they built their portfolio and the experience of going through the application process. You will also have a chance to ask questions after the talks! This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into how you as a medial student can start to build your portfolio. 

Timetable: 10am-5pm (Specific specialty timings TBC)

Saturday 15th November: Medical specialties 

Sunday 16th November: Surgical specialties
